Even though Sherlock was faking his death, I fully believe that his tears were genuine. To say goodbye to his closest and best friend would not be easy, even for Sherlock. It was a really intense, really heartbreaking scene, because everybody knows that Sherlock likes to seem emotionless, he mostly is, he doesn’t cry a lot at all, but he did. Because he loves John, and it broke his own heart to break John’s, to say goodbye.
